Missoula Area Stage II Fire Restrictions
Missoula Area Stage II Fire Restrictions are in effect as of 12:01AM on Friday August 28th. The portions of the Missoula and Ninemile Ranger District within Mineral County as well as the entire Superior RD and Plains-Thompson Falls ranger districts of the Lolo National Forest are under Stage II Fire Restrictions due to continued dry conditions and potential for rapid and dangerous fire growth. Local 271 firefighters raised more than $15,000 for Leukemia & Lymphoma!
 Missoula city firefighter and IAFF Local 271 member Andy Drobeck won the annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb for the fourth year in a row on Sunday in Seattle. Missoula IAFF Local 271 (Missoula City Fire) placed #1 out of 190 teams and had 6 finishers in the top 100 and 10 in the top 250 out of 1710 competitors. The challenge requires the participants to race up 69 flights of stairs at the Columbia Center while wearing their full set of firefighting gear, including a breathing mask and oxygen tank.
