The Missoula Fire Department encourages all residents to add any pertinent information to the new Smart911 system
| When you call 9-1-1 today, the operator receives very little information about you – basically just your phone number and your general location. In a situation where seconds count, being able to provide the operator with other critical information about you and your family the instant your call is made can be the difference between life and death. Smart911 was created by leaders in the fields of privacy and information management with the firm belief that providing 9-1-1 with additional timely information about you when you call, can help speed and enhance the effectiveness of an emergency response.
Smart 911 is a program available to all citizens of Missoula County. With Smart 911 an individual can log onto the site and put any information that they would want a 911 Dispatcher, Police, Fire or Medical personnel to have. There is a ton of information a person could put on their residence’s profile, a few that come to mind are chronic illnesses, lockbox location, after-hours contact info, hidden keys, bedridden people, heavy patients, etc., etc….
The Missoula 911 center will soon begin a media campaign to make the public aware of this new capability. All our firefighter/EMT/Paramedics are aware of the program, so be sure to ask them about if you have questions.
